BRUSSELS EARTHQUAKE: HUNGARY REJECTS 90 BILLION FOR KYIV — NO MONEY, NO WEAPONS, NO SOLDIERS FOR UKRAINE! -truongan.

Hungary’s incoming foreign minister, Anita Orban, confirmed during a parliamentary hearing in Budapest that Hungary would maintain a strict stance towards Ukraine. The country categorically refuses to send weapons or troops to Kyiv and announced that it will not participate in the proposed €90 billion (US$) European loan program intended to support the Ukrainian war effort.

Political Continuity and Opposition to Accelerated Accession:  This statement confirms the continuity of Hungarian foreign policy, perfectly aligned with the government of Viktor Orbán. Furthermore, the minister emphasized that Budapest would not support an accelerated procedure for Ukraine’s accession to the European Union. She insisted that this integration process must be strictly based on merit and rigorous adherence to the conditions required by the EU.

On the energy front, Anita Orban clarified that while Hungary aims to reduce its dependence on Russian supplies in the long term, no immediate disruption is planned. Budapest will continue to rely on the Druzhba pipeline and alternative routes via Croatia, prioritizing economic stability and predictable energy prices.

Ukraine Calls for Bilateral Dialogue:  Faced with Hungarian intransigence, Ukraine responded by signaling a renewed willingness to engage in diplomatic dialogue. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha stated that Kyiv was ready to begin structured bilateral talks to ease tensions. He emphasized that the release of the €90 billion is absolutely crucial for Ukraine’s macro-financial stability, defense production (including drones), and winter preparations.

“We are open to new bilateral relations. We have a set of proposals and are ready to discuss them with our Hungarian partners,” said Mr. Sybiha, advocating for open dialogue at the highest levels.

However, Hungary’s firm stance once again highlights the deep divisions within the European Union regarding funding, institutional enlargement and unconditional military support for Ukraine.
