The Ashley Biden divorce filing became public through court records this week. She filed to end her marriage with plastic surgeon Dr. Howard Krein.
The 44-year-old former first daughter submitted the paperwork Monday in Philadelphia’s Court of Common Pleas. The couple had been married for more than 13 years.
Ashley Biden Divorce Filing Details
Ashley Biden shared an Instagram post on the same day as the filing. The photo showed her walking through a park and giving a thumbs up.
The post used the song “Freedom” by Beyoncé. Additionally, she shared a quote about new beginnings and boundaries.
Marriage Background in Ashley Biden Divorce
Ashley Biden and Howard Krein married in June 2012 in Greenville, Delaware. Her late brother Beau Biden introduced them two years earlier.
Ashley later spoke about her wedding during the Democratic National Convention last year. She described how her father helped prepare the reception.
Joe Biden’s Role at the Wedding
Ashley said Joe Biden arranged details for the celebration. She recalled him riding a John Deere 4-wheeler while organizing the venue.
She also said he handled place settings and plants during preparations. Additionally, she described him as very emotional during the event.
Investigation Into Joe Biden
Meanwhile, House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer discussed an investigation into Joe Biden’s mental decline. He said the findings could challenge certain pardons and executive orders.
Comer questioned the frequent use of an autopen for presidential signatures. He argued the issue raises legal concerns about documents signed in Biden’s final months.
Legal Questions About Signatures
Former Harvard Law professor Alan Dershowitz said disputes over such documents could reach court. He explained legal issues depend on the type of document and the autopen’s use.
Dershowitz noted the Constitution requires presidents to sign bills. Therefore, he said an autopen could raise questions about whether a signature is valid.
